Configuring Asset Catalogs
Configuring Asset Catalogs and working with Catalog Items
Each row represents a Catalog Item that can be used to drive an Asset’s properties. Each column, with the exception of “Name” and “Preferred” corresponds to an Asset property. When an Asset is Catalog driven all the values in the chosen Catalog Item will be used to set the properties of that Asset. The properties that can be set by a Catalog Item are either Physical Attributes or Attributes and their behavior can be configured as described below.

Name |
Name |
The first column always contains the name of the Catalog Item. Typically the name contains some information about the dimensions of the Catalog Item to make browsing easier for the user. |
Preferred |
Preferred |
The “Preferred” column is used by the Catalog’s “Closest Match” feature. The “Closest Match” feature looks at an existing Asset and compares its Physical Attributes to those stored in the Catalog to determine which Catalog Item matches that existing Asset. In the event that more than one Catalog Items are considered to be a match then the Catalog Item with a “Preferred” value of “Yes” will be used. For example: |
Type, Rating |
Catalog Item Keys |
Catalog Item Keys are shown in bold. They can be used to filter the Catalog Items, see Asset Property Dialogs to see an example of how this works. |
Pipe Diameter |
Closest Match Properties |
Closest Match Properties are shown in blue. They are used by the “Closest Match” feature, see Asset Property Dialogs to see an example of how this works. |
FaceToFace, ValveDiameter |
Read-Only Properties |
Read-Only properties are shown as not italic. When an Asset is being driven by this Catalog Item these properties will be read-only. For example, the “Type”, “Rating”, “PipeDiameter”, “FaceToFace” and “ValveDiameter” are all read-only properties because they are strictly defined by the Catalog and all “4.0”-#150-BALL” instances will have the same “FaceToFace”, etc. |
HandleLength, HandleLeverLength |
Initial Properties |
Initial Properties are shown in italic. When an Asset is being driven by this Catalog Item these properties will initially be set to the specified value but can still be modified by the user. For example: |
The Catalog Items can be sorted based on any of columns – the user simply has to click on the desired column header.
Clicking on the same column header twice switches from ascending to descending order.
