Often a considerable amount of time is invested setting up what is displayed in a asset window. The current display may have been constructed by performing numerous searches and by navigating to a particular point in the model. Specific labels may have also been created which highlight what is shown in the asset view. All of this information can easily be stored in a Knowledge View. The Knowledge View can be accessible to all users, and it can be brought up at anytime in the future. Furthermore, if anything in the asset database changes, the Knowledge View will automatically reflect those changes.

Knowledge Views are commonly used for activities such as:

  1. Creating inspection isometric drawings that will be shared by an entire inspection team.
  2. In preparation for a meeting, Knowledge Views can be set up ahead of time so that the presenter can easily move to different viewpoints during the presentation.
  3. Illustrate areas of the plant that need to be isolated during a shutdown or maintenance activity.
  4. Store certain geographical areas of the plant, piping systems, or process units for later access.

V-Suite CORE supports two kinds of Knowledge Views:

  •  - The Asset Knowledge View

This Knowledge View stores all the information necessary to recreate an asset window, including the asset window's camera position and orientation, the asset w Window's settings (e.g. wireframe, perspective, background color), and a complete list of all the items that are currently displayed in the asset window.

  •  - The Camera Knowledge View

This Knowledge View only stores the asset window's camera position and and orientation. It is typically used to move between specific locations in the facility after the model is already displayed in an asset window.
