Visionaize software provides miscellaneous license options. Please consult Visionaize sales to be advised on which license option(s) and features are most appropriate for your organization.

Floating License - Local Database Access

A floating license entails running the software on a computer which obtains its license key from a License Server. The License Server keeps track of the total number of licenses that were purchased and serves them on demand to a client when a client starts the software. Local database access means the database and project files are all hosted locally on the user's computer.

A floating license a beneficial option for users who wish to be able to run the software on any computer in the LAN but do not require multiple concurrent users to access the local database and project files. However, if a user were to try and access the software from outside the network, or the scope of the License Server, they would not be able to run the software since the License Server cannot issue a license to that particular machine.

Floating License - Server Database Access

A floating license entails running the software on a computer which obtains its license key from a License Server. The License Server keeps track of the total number of licenses that were purchased and serves them on demand to a client when a client starts the sofwtare. Server database access means that any computer (client) running the software on a LAN can connect to a project hosted on a server concurrently while other users are also connected (granted there are licenses left to be issued by the License Server).

This is beneficial if there are multiple machines running the software that connect to the same server or access the same project. This allows the user freedom to access any project hosted on the server from any location on the network. However, if a user were to try and access the sofware from outside the network, or the scope of the License Server, they would not be able to run software since the License Server cannot issue a license to that particular machine.

Node-locked License - Local Database Access

A node-locked license entails running the software on a computer which has its license key locked to that specific computer. Local database access means the database and project files are all hosted locally on the user's computer.

This is a beneficial option for users who have a laptop or portable computer since this license is not required to communicate to a License Server but instead resides permanently on the computer. This means that the software can be run from any location regardless of network access and project data can be accessed locally.
