Asset properties cannot be edited if you work in the Production View. Authoring functions, including editing an asset, are always performed against a work order or a standing task, and always in a Work In Progress (or WIP) view that until it is published, is only visible to users working in the work order or standing task.

The Property Editor allows users to modify the properties of multiple selected assets from a single dialog. It can be displayed by selecting multiple assets and using the command in the Tools menu or by executing a search and using the Edit with Property Editor command in the Search Tool Window. The Property Editor can be useful when you want to change one or more properties for a large number of assets. The Property Editor will display all the properties and attributes that the selected assets have in common. For example, if all assets are of Marked Point type, the Property Editor will include all the properties for a Marked Point.

If the values of the properties are the same for all selected assets, the common value will be displayed, otherwise the field will be empty. For example, for the above dialog, all selected assets have the same background color and transparency but different text colors and fonts.

When applying the changes, if there is at least one asset that could not be changed due to being locked by another user, all changes will be rolled-back.
