Effective with V-Suite CORE 2016, project locking is no longer used to manage model changes and locking cannot be performed from within V-Suite CORE. Instead, authoring functions (create, delete, modify) are performed against a work order or standing task. All changes are made against a Work In Progress (or WIP) view, and are only visible to users who choose to work in the Work In Progress view (and are authorized to do so). Users can always work in the production view, which is available in parallel to any Work In Progress view. When work is complete in the work order or standing task, the changes are published, where they immediately become part of the new production view. With this behavior, users are never locked out of a project and the project locking function has been removed from V-Suite CORE.

Individual assets and other objects in a project may be locked, indicating that a change is in progress. Users in the production view can continue to interact with such objects, and will see a  icon in the Status Bar indicating that an object is being modified. Objects that are locked in one Work In Progress view cannot be modified in another Work In Progress view at the same time.

Database locking continues to be available to administrators for SQL Server administrative functions.
