Working in a WIP

Users perform changes to the database in a Work In Progress (WIP) view, while users who do not make changes and want to see and work with the latest production data perform their work in the Production view. The Production View is a read-only view.

To make changes to the database you must first activate a task.


Throughout the documentation, this icon is used to highlight sections that explain differences in working in a Work In Progress view vs. working in the Production view.


Any authoring command (command to create, modify or delete data) will verify that the action you are about to perform is allowed. You will see the following message if you do not have the access rights to perform the action or the item is not within not within the scope of the task you activated.


Reserve a WIP

Certain authoring functions cannot be performed unless you are the only user in the Work In Progress view.To ensure that you are the only user working in the WIP view you first reserve the WIP.


Throughout the documentation, this icon is used to indicate that you first must reserve the WIP in order to make changes.


The application will present the following message, indicating that you must first reserve the WIP:
