Clip Primitives and Assets

You may clip points that belong to already modeled primitives and assets. First select one or more assets and then execute one of the clip primitive commands. You may select individual assets or a higher level group.

Select the assets from the Asset Window or the Asset Explorer.

Clip points belonging to primitives

Clip Points not belonging to primitives

You may need to customize these clip actions by:

    1. Only considering points on surface of primitives. This option only clips the points directly around the surface of a primitive, if there are points inside the primitive past the tolerance, they will not be clipped.
    2. Prompt for Custom Tolerance. This option will always ask the user to enter a clip tolerance for the surface of primitives. If this is not checked, the default is to only consider 5 mm around the primitives. The examples above used 20 mm.

Clipping Tools

For better management of clipping actions, the following tools are also supported:

Clip Selected Points. This will remove from display all points which have been selected.

Clip Unselected Points. This will remove from display all points which are not selected.

Discard Clipping Region. This will reset the region and the user may create a new region.

Undo Last Clipping Action. Since the user may perform any number of clipping actions, this command will restore the last one.

Clear All Clipping. This will clear all clipping actions made on the current asset window.
