Point Cloud Categorization commands are disabled if you work in the Production View. Authoring functions, including categorizing point clouds, are always performed against a work order or a standing task, and always in a Work In Progress (or WIP) view that until it is published, is only visible to users working in the work order or standing task.

Point Cloud Categorization allows points from Laser Scans (regions are currently not supported) to be marked with categorical information - allowing the usage of visualization tools on the values of these categories.

Point Cloud categorization is available through the Asset View menu, Categorization Tools->Categorize Points. Selecting this option will bring up the Point Cloud Categorization form:

Point Cloud Categorization Tools

Point Cloud Visualization allows the coloring or omission of points from physical data. The visualization tools affect points displayed in the viewer, and the visualization settings are specific to each viewer.

Point Cloud Visualization is available through the Asset View menu, Categorization Tools->Filter Points. Selecting this option will bring up the Point Cloud Category Visualization form:

Point Cloud Visualization Tools

Point Cloud Category Visualization may either be done on:

    • Scan Categories, and the manually assigned categories. This process is described above, in Point Cloud Categorization Tools.
    • Region Categories, and the implied information associated to point clouds in the regions. You may either visualize regions based on the Scan Job from with the point came, or the Registration Area to which the point belongs.

Scan Categories always act upon the user applied categories on selected/unselected points.

Region Categories either act upon:

    • Scan Jobs - Visualization will be based on from which Scan Job a point comes.
    • Registration Areas - Visualization will be based on from which Registration Area a point comes.
