Many, although not all, 3D Elements and Assets can be interactively manipulated in the Asset View.

Most of the 3D elements have their own Manipulator which contain features specific to that 3D element. If a 3D element does not have its own manipulator then the Universal Manipulator is used. Assets that are made up of multiple elements always use the Universal Manipulator.


Manipulating a 3D Element or Asset

Outlined below are three different ways to display the manipulator for a 3D Element.


Using Manipulate Mode


    1. Switch the Asset View to Manipulate mode.
    2. Click on a 3D element or Asset in the Asset View to display its manipulator.

If you select an Asset that is made up of several 3D Elements, only one of the elements may be selected. Once you finish manipulating the element, the entire Asset will move.



Using the Asset View context menu


    1. Switch the Asset View to Select mode.
    2. Click on a 3D element or Asset in the Asset View to select it.
    3. Right-click in the Asset View to display the context menu.
    4. Select Manipulate and the manipulator will be displayed in the Asset View.

In order to be able to interact with the manipulator the Asset View must be in Manipulate mode.


Using the Asset Explorer context menu


    1. Right-click on a 3D element or Asset in the Asset Explorer to display the context menu.
    2. Select Manipulate and the manipulator will be displayed in the Asset View.


In order to be able to interact with the manipulator the Asset View must be in Manipulate mode.


Manipulating multiple 3D Elements or Assets

It is also possible to manipulate multiple 3-D elements and Assets simultaneously with the Universal Manipulator.

Using Manipulate Mode

    1. Switch the Asset View to Manipulate mode.
    2. Click on a 3D element or Asset in the Asset View to display it's manipulator.
    3. Press the 'CTRL' key and click on additional 3D elements or Assets in the Asset View to add them to the manipulator.

 

Using the Asset View context menu


    1. Switch the Asset View to Select mode.
    2. Press the 'CTRL' key and click on 3D elements or Assets in the Asset View to select them.
    3. Right-click in the Asset View to display the context menu.
    4. Select Manipulate and the Universal Manipulator will be displayed in the Asset View.


Using the Asset Explorer context menu


    1. Press the 'CTRL' key and click on 3D elements or Assets in the Asset Explorer to select them.
    2. Right-click in the Asset Explorer to display the context menu.
    3. Select Manipulate and the  Universal Manipulator will be displayed in the Asset View.
