Perspective

There are two different kinds of projection which can be used to view the 3D model.

    • Perspective is a type of projection where the view is projected onto the screen such that parallel lines appear to converge in order to give the illusion of depth and distance. This is how the eye views a scene in real life.
    • Orthographic is a type of projection where the view is projected onto the screen by drawing the lines of projection perpendicular to the screen. There is no visual evidence of depth perception.

Perspective Mode

Orthographic Mode

The current projection used by an Asset View can be changed via the Asset View menu. When the Perspective option is checked the Asset View uses perspective projection, and when unchecked the model is shown using orthographic projection. The default projection for new Asset Windows can be set in the User Options.

Note: Not all features are supported by both types of projection, for example a Background scene cannot be applied if Perspective is disabled.

Perspective Angle

If the projection is set to Perspective, the angle can be changed to see more or less of the model using the Perspective Angle dialog:

.

Increasing the angle will show more of the model in the view but it may be a little distorted. The default perspective angle for new Asset Windows can be set in the User Options.

Display Style

The model can be displayed using one of the following styles; Solid, Hidden Line, or Wireframe.

The current display style used by an Asset View can be changed via the Asset View Menu. The default display style for new Asset Windows can be set in the User Options.

Orientation Axis

The Orientation Axis shows you the East-North-Up direction from which you are looking at the Model. The Axis can be hidden, displayed in the center of the Asset View or displayed in any of the four corners of the Asset View.

The position of the Orientation Axis in an Asset View can be changed via the Asset View Menu. The default display style for new Asset Windows can be set in the User Options.

Background

The background of the Asset View can be changed to any color, or it can be changed to display a scene.

Note: A scene can only be displayed if Perspective is enabled, if it is not enabled then the scene will not appear and the chosen background color will be displayed instead.

The background of an Asset View can be changed via the Asset View Menu. The default background for the new Asset Windows can be set in the User Options.
