CAD provider adapters may need to read input files to provide asset information to V-Suite CORE. These file selections are stored in the asset database so that V-Suite CORE can update the asset database without requiring you to repeatedly specifiy the names and locations of these files each time the asset database is updated from the CAD source.

All CAD provider adapters will request you to specify a file selection via the same File Selection control. If no files have been selected yet you will be presented with the following control:

The control will allow you specify a file selection by selecting one or more file names or by specify one or more wildcard patterns of files to be included in the file selection:

Adding File(s) to the selection by specifying files

To add specific files to the file selection you should make sure the "Specify using wildcard pattern(s)" check box is not checked. Left-click the "Add File(s) to selection" link which will display the Open File Dialog. Select the files you wish to add to the selection and press "Open". The selected files will be added to the File Selection Control.

Adding File(s) to the selection by specifying wildcard pattern(s)

To add files that match a wildcard pattern to the file selection you should make sure the "Specify using wildcard pattern(s)" check box is checked. Left-click the "Add File(s) to selection" link which will display the Wildcard Patterns Dialog:

Press the browse (...) button to locate the folder in which the files resides.

Press the Plus (+) button to specify a wildcard pattern for files to be included in the selection.

Press the Minus (-) button to specify a wildcard pattern for files to be excluded from the selection.

Wildcard pattern are defined/modifed through an inline editor:

To remove a wildcard pattern select the wildcard pattern and press the delete button :

The following example adds all "DGN" files to the selection except for those file that have 'temp' or 'test' in the file name;

Press the 'OK' button to apply the wildcard patterns. Files that match the wildcard pattern(s) will be added to the file selection.

Please note that this file selection is dynamic: files that match the wildcard pattern(s) and are copied/placed in the specified folder will be automatically added to the selection the next time the wizard or synchronizer uses the selection.

Modifying a File Selection

To remove a file from the file selection, select the file in File Selection Control and right-click which will display the file selection popup menu:

Select "Remove" to remove the selected file from the selection. Please note that if the file selection is defined by wildcard pattern(s), the "remove file" from selection will add a wildcard pattern which excludes specified file. Also note that the Add File(s) is disabled if the selection is defined by wildcard pattern(s).

If the file selection was not defined by a wildcard pattern you can add files to the selection using the popup menu.

You can remove or change the path of folder by selecting the folder and right-click which will display the popup menu.

It is possible that in time folders may be moved to another location (on a different server). To change the location of files, select the folder in the control and right mouse-click and select the 'Change Path' option. Please note that if a folder location simply changed you should not remove the folder and add the files again from the new location. To the CAD source this would mean that you just deleted files from the selection and added new ones from a different location and thus does not consider them the same files anymore. By changing the path of the folder, the CAD source will understand that the files are the same but have moved to a new location.
